Evaluating Shirley’s OOB Experience

So, how did she do?  Was Shirley’s Out of Body experience ‘valid’ in terms of Goethe’s profile or Dr. Eban Alexander’s NDE profile?

Keep in mind the diverse experiences of these first three people we have covered.  Goethe reached his profound Conscious Awareness through being deeply inspired by the fairy tale of his friend, Schiller.  Dr. Eban Alexander had both a fatal brain condition that was linked to his Near Death Experience and multiple visits to heaven.  And now, Shirley, who found herself outside of her body, floating and traveling in the sky at the blink of a thought.  For her, no heavenly visits, but a demonstration that she was more than the body she looked at in the mirror each morning, and that she was part of an amazing universe in a way not imaginable prior to that night.

We are not putting rigid strictures on just what “Conscious Awareness” is for these or for other people.  For now, Conscious Awareness is an awakening realization that we are special, unique, and part of a universe of being that is beyond what our five senses have previously allowed us to see.

Astrologically there have been some dozen factors identified in Goethe’s Advanced chart for the date he had his Conscious Awareness event.  Dr. Eban Alexancer also shared those dozen or so factors.  And now we will look at Shirley’s tabulation against the Goethe profile to see how she matched up.

Shirley's Goethe profile tabulation

Factors #1 thru #11 have been met.  Factor #12 cannot be determined at this time.  Those who are long-term fans of Shirley MacLaine and who have read her books and followed her in the news may be able to suggest an earlier-in-life crises that may be connected to her OOB experience.

What has become obvious in Shirley’s chart is the connection of t/Chiron, the n/Sun, and the natal or transiting chart angles.  What do these three factors contribute?

  • Chiron is an asteroid having an eccentric orbit between Saturn and Uranus, coming very close to Saturn’s orbit at times.  Chiron was a Centaur who was deeply wounded while younger and had to deal with his infirmity’s effects for the rest of his life.  Accordingly, astrologers have seen him as “the wounded healer.”  Within the form of cyclic charts that I use, Return charts, Chiron is often seen as a symbol requiring adjustment to be made in how we are dealing with a current, bothersome issue.
  • The natal Sun is one major link to our personal place and time in this universe. It’s imprint, as defined in the natal astrological chart, remains with us all of our life.  As a chart symbol, contact with the natal Sun position is almost always significant.  This Sun represents our health, identity, intent and life style.
  • The chart angles, whether the natal angles or the Return or Advanced chart’s angles, are places of “expressional power.”  Planets at/near these points in the chart will always seek to express themselves in multiple ways.

In combination, these three factors tell us that our very sense of who we are needs to be fully re-evaluated immediately based on our ‘then-current’ experience of becoming Consciously Aware.   Unless we are blind or unaccepting of this experience, we have the wonderful opportunity to now see the world through very different eyes.  We may now realize our personal power to better enjoy and learn from this newly perceived world.  We may even decide that we can change this new world for the better.  What a wonderful situation to find oneself within.

A review of Goethe’s chart and Dr. Eban Alexander’s chart showed that a variant of this Chiron-n/Sun-chart angle pattern was also present for them.  Chiron was only recently discovered, completely unknown in Goethe’s time.  Yet, Chiron is there, doing it’s thing.  So, we will add this new factor into our ‘Goethe Profile’ tabulation and will look forward to testing the presence and impact of this pattern in other charts.
