Many of Shirley MacLaine’s fans know of her interests in many areas of life, especially spiritual matters. This OOB (Out of Body) experience, as a topic, will be unfamiliar to some. The illustration of the prior post shows Shirley rising into the sky directly from her hot tub. A silver cord connects her to her body back in the tub as she floats high into the sky. The silver cord serves as an assurance factor. For many, this form of OOB may not be what they experience.
The photo above shows a woman asleep as her ‘awakened’ self separates from her body. She looks back at herself. This is quite common for people in accidents or while experiencing surgery. It is also very common for those who sleep, yet they travel about the house, the neighborhood, or they visit relatives — looking in on them to check on their wellbeing. One who is adept at choosing to leave their body, or to ‘astro-travel’, can choose to go anywhere.
We need to take a simple look at Shirley’s chart to link the OOB factors to her actual experience. I’ll repost the chart below for reference.
This OOB astrological factor is located at 27 degrees, 30 minutes in the sign of Aries. This point is marked on the chart shown and is near the planets Mars (circle with the arrow) and Uranus (‘H’ with a vertical line in the middle).
Mars symbolizes our energy expression, sense of presence, how and where we tend to act. Uranus represents the way we ‘surprise’ our self with sudden ideas, to feel liberated, to be attracted to all or anything that is different or ‘new’ in some way. It is this part of the chart and the personality that the ‘OOB’ factor affects. So, what is the astrological ‘OOB’ factor?
Astrologers, over time, have found patterns that seem to correlate with specific human experiences. In this case a combination involving the symbolism of Ceres (the largest asteroid, classed as a minor planet) and Neptune (associated with drama, deceit, illusion, spiritual issues). These two are combined with another body which is a ‘hypothetical’ planet called Poseidon. Poseidon is not a ‘real’ planet but seems to reflect some form of harmonic presence. It has been found to effective even if not ‘real.’ Poseidon is said to be a ‘bridge between above and below, ideals, spirituality, making things real, a ‘guardian angle.’
So, what do we do with Ceres, Neptune and Poseiden? We turn the signs into 30 degree segments, and starting at the zero Aries point we take the number of degrees for where Ceres is located (Ceres looks like a backwards question mark) and add to it the number of degrees for where Neptune (the three-pronged trident) is located, and from this sum we subtract the position in degrees from where Poseidon (not shown) is located. The result of all of this adding and subtracting is found at 27:30 Aries.
So, for Shirley, her natal chart says that her seeking of adventure, wanting to be free and to discover unique things about herself (the interpretation for Mars and Uranus) is tied or linked to where she can experience Out Of Body experiences. It is all this simple.
Now here is the tricky part. This natal pattern of Mars and Uranus is not triggered in this chart. So, what brought on this OOB experience. Look at where the OOB that is the transiting version in the inner wheel is located. It is at 29:47 Scorpio. This is opposite transiting Mars at 26 Taurus. What most people, and some astrologers, don’t realize that when a natal version of planet is involved, its transiting version may just act as a substitute or alternate for the natal version. And vice-versa. So, the triggering of the transiting OOB point and transiting Mars sets off the natal Mars-Uranus-OOB part of the chart.
I just thought that another explanation of this should be offered to those who are ‘new’ to astrology. Dave
