Part 5: Eban Alexander — Post NDE

Eban photo-7

Following his Nov. 16, 2008 awakening from a coma, and a week of recovery to get most of his memory and motor functions restored, Eban went home on Nov. 25th, two days before Thanksgiving. Most notable in this chart is the two angular Moons; t/Moon at the IC, n/Moon at the Desc. angle and squaring the t/Sun in the 4th house.  The opening quarter Moon is the phase in which we struggle to assert our self, to make our own way in life.  The two angular Moons speak of domesticity.  Note n/Moon squared by t/Chiron, the healing and adjusting energy being received.  The t/PoF has just passed the n/MC, indicating a change in one’s status — from hospital patient to home recovery.

His advanced chart for this date is shown below.

This informational interlude sets up the next, and for us the final, part of Alexander’s story.  He was anxious to write a book about his adventures and the many trips he made to and from Heaven.  His son counseled him not to read any books on the Near Death Experience before first writing his own detailed account.  He did that.  After finishing his story in draft form, he started reading books on the NDE.  He realized that one element common to almost every NDE story was missing in his story.  He had not met anyone he knew while in heaven.

On a rainy Tuesday in March, 2009 — most likely March 3rd — he received in the mail from his sister a framed photograph and a poem.  After reading the poem he took a look at the photograph.  It was of an older sister who had died as a child before he had been born.  He had heard of her, conversationally, but had never seen a photo of her before.  She looked familiar to him, as a sister might.  Yet, there was something more.  Finally, it came to him.  This girl was the one who had guided him in his many trips around Heaven.  Different dress, no angelic glow, but the same girl.  He had indeed met someone he knew in Heaven.  That chart is shown below.

  • t/Neptune is at the MC; our rainy day, while n/Neptune squares the n/MC.  Neptune also relates to photographs, the MC relates to the family in general.
  • t/PoF in the 4th opposes t/Sun in the 10th, while n/PoF conjoins n/Sun at the Desc. angle.  When two Suns are involved in a mutual pattern or are opposed to each other we have two minds, two intellects, two challenges to consider.  Here, given the context of Alexander’s life at that time, he recognizes the sister that he had never met prior to his illness and visits to heaven.

This is an extraordinary story.  This last portion illustrates the importance of family, even those who preceded us and are not directly known to us.  Within the context of the whole story of his illness, coma, visits to the spirit world while he was totally brain dead in a vegetative state, his recovery, his introduction via a photo to a deceased sister who had guided him in a tour of the after-life — all of this was presented by a most reliable and creditable person.  Eban is a neurosurgeon, a scientists, and a man who has no financial motivation to mislead us.  He has gone on in his life to spread his message, his experience, and to help others.  His experience and his reputation was the reason why his story was chosen to be presented first among the many such stories that we can explore.

In the final posting on Eban Alexander we will look at his chart for his NDE and compare it to the Goethe Profile for Conscious Awareness.  Dave
