On October 26, 1794 in Wiemar, Germany, Goethe had finished reading Schiller’s words and put those words and his own life’s thoughts and conclusions together in such a way that we might say he experienced a sudden conscious awareness. In that mind set, he saw that a fairy tale might better make Schiller’s and his own messages better understood by the German public. With this concept in mind, he wrote a letter to his dear friend Schiller and put his pen to paper, giving birth to the Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily.
Under the menu heading Goethe I have placed a writing covering this period in 1794 when this fairy tale was conceived. The t/Moon to n/Sun Return occurred on Oct. 19, 1794 with the t/Moon-n/Sun in the 10th house, t/Mercury near the Ascendant with n/Mercury at the MC, and t/Pluto (then unknown) at the IC angle. The writing gives the full interpretation of these patterns. It is enough to say here that the emphasis of the double Mercury’s does indicate Goethe’s thoughts and his expression (through his writing) would be a big part of his life in this two week period.
Shifting over to the Advanced chart for Oct. 26, 1794 we find n/Sun-n/MC-n/Mercury all hovering around the charts MC angle along with transiting Chiron and Uranus. What a pattern this is. A “sudden adjustment” of his thoughts and understanding affects his career and life’s work. Natal Saturn and Ascendant are being approached by this chart’s Ascendant; another significant pattern. He will be acting to give form and permanence to his efforts and actions.
Whenever we have these chart’s Asc. and MC angles approaching a match up with the birth chart’s Asc. and MC angles, it signifies a major turning point in life, a re-birth of some kind, a totally different phase of life commencing. From this point of view, it seems to me that Goethe put all of his conclusions and life experiences together and reached a profound cognition of life and it’s purposes. Please take the time to read about this important point in his life. Dave
